- 2.5 cups flour
- 1 ½ TBS baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 10 TBS butter cubed
- 1 egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 7 string cheese
- 3 TBS butter
- 2 TBS minced garlic
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
Cut butter into flour mixture until well incorporated and hold its shape when squeezed.
Add egg to the mixture and combine.
Gently stir in buttermilk until dough has formed.
Roll dough into 24 one-inch balls.
Cut 7-string cheese into bite-size pieces.
Take each piece of cheese and press it into the middle of the dough, then press the dough around the cheese and roll it into a ball again.
Shape dough into a Christmas tree, one roll for the stem, three on the bottom row of the tree, two on the next row, and then finally one roll for the top.
There will be enough to make two trees or one large tree.
Once the tree is shaped, melt butter and add garlic.
Brush rolls with garlic butter and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
