Copycat Outback Steakhouse Bloomin Onion Recipe

Make your own Outback Steakhouse Bloomin Onion at home! Sweet onions, battered and deep-fried to golden brown right in your own kitchen.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 large whole onion at room temperature
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Peel the outer skin of a large onion and cut off the top of the onion. Cut onion into 16 even slices, but do not cut all the way through the onion.
  • In a small bowl, beat the egg. In another bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, flour, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  • Dip the onion into the egg mixture, making sure every slice is evenly coated.
  • Place the onion in the breadcrumb mixture and coat it with the mixture, making sure every slice is evenly coated.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  • Brush the onion with olive oil, making sure every slice is coated, or separate the onion petals and spritz them with olive oil.
  • Sprinkle the petals with garlic powder.
  • Place the onion in the air fryer basket making sure not to overcrowd them and Air fry for 5-7 minutes.
  • Rotate the basket and cook for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve the Air Fryer Blooming Onion with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
  • Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately for the best results.
