Ingredients

Almond Cookie Fingers

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup white granulated sugar
  • ½ egg
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract
  • ¾ cup all purpose flour + 2 tablespoons
  • 1 tablespoon sliced almonds

Icing

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • Red food dye

Instructions

  • Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a mixing bowl add the butter and sugar. Whisk together until combined. Go in with half an egg and ¼ teaspoon of almond extract. Mix again until combined.
  • Pour in the flour and fold together with the wet ingredients until a crumbly dough forms. Use your hands to turn the almond dough crumbles into a uniform ball.
  • Split the dough into 8 even pieces.
  • Form a thin log with the dough piece, shaping it into a finger. Repeat with the rest of the dough.
  • Place a full sliced almond at the end of each finger log to act as the fingernail on the cookie. Use a butter knife to create indentations in each finger, right under the nail, and create the wrinkles of the knuckle.
  • Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until the edges of the finger cookies are slightly browned.
  • While the cookies bake, in a separate bowl add the powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk all at once. Whisk together until a thick glaze has formed. Add the red food dye, adding a little brown or black food dye with it to create a realistic “blood” colored frosting.
  • When the cookies come out of the oven, let cool for 10 minutes.
  • Now place splotches of red icing all over the finger to create the look of bloody fingers.
  • Let the icing harden slightly at room temperature for 20 minutes, then serve!
    Scary fun blood finger cookies.
