Subway Is Offering Free Footlongs Through November 8, but There’s One Important Catch
Who doesn’t love a free sandwich, especially when it comes with a full foot of bread, meat, cheese, and all your favorite toppings? Subway is giving sandwich lovers another reason to open its app this fall, with a buy-one-get-one-free Footlong deal running through November 8, 2026.
The promotion is part of the chain’s National Sandwich Day celebration, which arrived earlier than usual this year. But before you rush to your nearest Subway expecting a free lunch, there are a few rules worth knowing. You’ll need to buy a qualifying sandwich, sign up for the chain’s loyalty program, and place your order digitally. Here’s how the deal works and what else Subway has planned.
Subway’s Free Footlong Deal Is Already Underway

Subway officially launched its latest Footlong promotion on October 27, giving eligible customers the chance to get a second Footlong free when they purchase another.
According to the company’s October 21 announcement, the offer continues through November 8 at participating U.S. restaurants.
That gives customers nearly two weeks to take advantage of the promotion, rather than squeezing their sandwich plans into a single afternoon.
The deal is straightforward. Purchase one eligible Footlong, and Subway will cover the price of a second eligible Footlong of equal or lesser value.
For anyone ordering lunch with a friend, coworker, or family member, that could make a regular Subway stop considerably more appealing.
However, the promotion doesn’t mean customers can walk into any Subway and collect a sandwich for absolutely nothing. A qualifying purchase is required, and several restrictions apply.
You’ll Need to Join Subway’s Sub Club First

Here’s something important to know before placing your order: this promotion is reserved for Subway’s Sub Club members.
The good news? Joining is free.
Both existing members and customers signing up for the first time can qualify. Subway says the promotional offer is automatically added to eligible members’ wallets in its mobile app.
To participate, customers can sign into their accounts or register through Subway’s app or website.
Under the chain’s Sub Club membership terms, participants must be at least 18 years old and meet the program’s residency requirements.
You won’t need to pay a membership fee just to become eligible for the sandwich deal.
Still, it’s worth checking your account before building an order. Seeing the promotion available can help you avoid disappointment when you reach checkout.
Here’s How to Claim Your Free Footlong

Getting the discount shouldn’t require complicated planning, but you’ll want to follow the right process.
Start by signing into your Sub Club account through the Subway app or Subway.com. Next, choose a participating restaurant and add two eligible Footlong sandwiches to your order.
Check your available offers and make sure the BOGO discount appears correctly before paying.
The less expensive sandwich, or one of equal value, qualifies as the free item.
There’s another detail worth remembering: Subway requires customers to place their orders through its app or website.
That means simply ordering two sandwiches at the counter won’t qualify under the published promotion rules.
And although Subway highlights its mobile app, customers can also order through its website. You don’t necessarily need to download another app to participate.
Subway hasn’t published a universal promotional code for this offer, so customers should look for the deal associated with their accounts instead.
Not Every Footlong Qualifies for the Deal
Thinking about ordering absolutely anything on the Footlong menu? Check the exclusions first.
Subway specifically excludes three sandwich options from this promotion: Fresh Fit, 5 Meat Italian, and Big Hot Pastrami.
The company also makes clear that additional toppings or other paid add-ons aren’t included in the free sandwich discount.
Taxes still apply, and customers cannot combine this offer with other promotions.
Another restriction limits the BOGO promotion to one use per order. However, Subway’s public announcement doesn’t establish whether members can redeem the deal again on a different day.
So, although the promotion runs continuously through November 8, customers shouldn’t assume they’ll receive a fresh free-sandwich reward every day.
Restaurant participation also matters. Some Subway locations may not accept the offer, making it sensible to confirm eligibility before placing an order.
Subway Is Bringing Back a Fan-Favorite Sandwich Too
The free Footlong promotion isn’t the only attraction in Subway’s fall celebration.
The chain has also brought back its Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub, a menu item that hadn’t been offered since 2014.
This returning sandwich combines rotisserie-style chicken marinated in enchilada sauce with Fritos corn chips, Baja Chipotle sauce, and Monterey Cheddar cheese.
Lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions complete the combination.
It’s certainly a different approach to the classic deli-style sandwich, especially for customers who enjoy a little crunch alongside their usual fillings.
And for those who like something sweet after lunch, Subway has another comeback planned.
The Caramel Apple Cookie, last offered in 2021, is returning for a limited time. The cookie features apple pieces, caramel chips, salted caramel crunch, and a caramel icing drizzle.
Both menu returns give customers something extra to explore beyond the BOGO promotion.
Why Subway Celebrated National Sandwich Day Early
National Sandwich Day traditionally falls on November 3, but Subway decided to kick off its celebration on October 27 this year.
The reason involves an entirely different national event: Election Day.
With the 2026 midterm elections taking place on November 3, Subway moved its own festivities forward by a week to give sandwiches a little more attention.
That doesn’t mean National Sandwich Day itself has officially changed dates. Subway simply chose to celebrate earlier.
Fortunately for customers who prefer to stick with the traditional November 3 date, the Footlong BOGO promotion will still be available that day.
The returning sandwich and cookie are also part of the celebration, although their availability is limited.
Is Subway’s Footlong Promotion Worth Using?
For customers already planning to purchase two Footlong sandwiches, this deal could offer meaningful savings without requiring a separate coupon hunt.
It’s particularly practical for coworkers splitting lunch, couples grabbing takeout, or families placing a shared order.
The biggest advantage is simple: when two eligible sandwiches are ordered together, the lower-priced one is discounted to zero before applicable extras and taxes.
Of course, buying a second sandwich solely to get something free isn’t necessarily a bargain if you only wanted one in the first place.
The smartest approach is to check the participating restaurant, review your available offer, and compare the final checkout total before committing.
With the promotion scheduled to end November 8, there’s still time to plan a sandwich run.
Just remember the golden rule of this Subway giveaway: the second Footlong may be free, but the first one is on you.
