Aldi Planned 180 New Stores This Year, and the Newest Are About to Open

Aldi is preparing to open another group of stores this month as the discount grocer works toward its plan to add more than 180 U.S. locations in 2026.

The newest openings are scheduled in Mesa, Poughkeepsie, North Little Rock, Bristol, Madison, and Zephyrhills. Some will hold sneak-peek events before their grand openings, while others are scheduled to open directly on their listed dates.

The important detail is that Aldi’s 180-store figure is a 2026 expansion target, not a claim that all 180 locations have already opened.

Mesa, Arizona

Aldi is preparing to open a store at 6853 E. Elliot Road in Mesa on Oct. 22.

The location is scheduled to have a sneak peek on Oct. 21 before the grand opening the following day. That puts Mesa among the newest Aldi markets included in the company’s current expansion wave.

For shoppers watching Aldi’s growth in Arizona, this opening is part of a much larger national plan rather than a standalone store announcement.

Poughkeepsie, New York

Another Oct. 22 opening is scheduled for 3456 North Road in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Aldi plans to hold a sneak peek on Oct. 21, followed by the grand opening on Oct. 22. The timing puts the Poughkeepsie store in the same late-October group as the Mesa location.

The opening is part of Aldi’s broader effort to increase its U.S. store count during 2026.

North Little Rock, Arkansas

Aldi’s next wave continues on Oct. 29 with a planned opening at 11201 Maumelle Blvd. in North Little Rock.

Shoppers can expect the sneak peek to take place Oct. 28, with the grand opening scheduled for Oct. 29. That gives the Arkansas location the same two-day opening schedule planned for several other stores in this group.

The store is one of the locations included in Aldi’s 2026 expansion plans.

Bristol, Connecticut

Bristol is also scheduled for an Oct. 29 Aldi opening.

The planned store is located at 1235 Farmington Ave., with a sneak peek scheduled for Oct. 28. The grand opening is set for Oct. 29.

Like the other new locations, this store should be viewed as part of Aldi’s wider expansion rather than evidence that the company is opening every planned location at once.

Madison, Florida

Aldi is also preparing to open at 729 W. Base St. in Madison, Florida, with the grand opening scheduled for Oct. 29.

Unlike the locations with confirmed sneak-peek dates in the brief, Madison is listed with the grand-opening date only. Local reporting identifies the location as a conversion of a former Winn-Dixie.

That detail is worth noting because Aldi’s expansion includes conversions as well as conventional new store openings. Not every location in the company’s growth plan represents a newly constructed building.

Zephyrhills, Florida

Another Florida opening is scheduled for Oct. 29, this time at 38901 County Road 54 in Zephyrhills.

Local reporting identifies this location as another former Winn-Dixie conversion. The store therefore illustrates one of the ways Aldi is expanding its footprint in the Southeast.

As with the other openings, shoppers should rely on the confirmed local opening information rather than assuming that every detail associated with another Aldi location applies to this store.

Aldi’s Bigger Expansion Plan

These six stores are only part of Aldi’s much larger 2026 strategy.

The company announced plans to open more than 180 stores across 31 states during the year. Aldi said the expansion is intended to bring its U.S. footprint to nearly 2,800 stores by the end of 2026, followed by a longer-term target of 3,200 stores by the end of 2028.

Aldi said it had more than 2,600 U.S. stores as of September.

The expansion includes both new stores and conversions of former Southeastern Grocers banners in the Southeast. That distinction is important when looking at the numbers because a store joining the Aldi network does not necessarily mean a brand-new building has been constructed.

What Shoppers Should Know

The upcoming openings show that Aldi’s expansion is still moving forward as October comes to a close.

For the locations with sneak peeks, Mesa and Poughkeepsie are scheduled to preview on Oct. 21 before opening Oct. 22. North Little Rock and Bristol are scheduled for sneak peeks on Oct. 28 before their Oct. 29 openings, while Madison and Zephyrhills are both scheduled for Oct. 29.

The broader takeaway is that Aldi’s more than 180-store plan is a goal for the full 2026 expansion period. It should not be read as a statement that 180 new stores have already opened.

With additional growth planned beyond this year, Aldi’s latest openings are another step in a larger push to expand its U.S. footprint.
