Kansas City’s Newest Restaurant Openings: 8 Places to Try This Fall
Your next meal out could start with a homemade biscuit, end with a deep-dish cookie, or involve deciding between noodle soup and a seafood boil. Kansas City’s recent openings offer plenty of ways to shake up your usual restaurant rotation.
These eight arrivals stretch across the metro, from West 39th Street and downtown to Prairie Village, Olathe and Overland Park. Most opened in September or October 2026, while one August arrival makes this a fall catch-up list, too. Some are new concepts; others bring established brands to new neighborhoods. Two are daytime cafés, so this list is more than just dinner planning.
Marigolds

At 1850 W. 39th St. in Kansas City, Missouri, Marigolds opened October 27 with homemade biscuits and a comforting breakfast-and-lunch focus. Owner Kory Roth has given the former Panera space hunter-green walls, family-connected artwork, and a lounge with couches, books, and an electric fireplace.
Breakfast runs all day. The Shift Change sandwich combines pepper jack, pepper jam and hot honey, while the Rise & Grind features arugula, havarti and avocado. Lunch includes customizable sandwiches and baked potatoes.
Watch for Mary’s Meatloaf, a hot-sandwich special based on Roth’s mother’s recipe. It’s available for a limited time, so treat it as a possible bonus rather than a guaranteed order.

Pho & Boil
Soup people and seafood-boil people can meet at 7702 Shawnee Mission Parkway in Overland Park. Pho & Boil soft-opened October 25, pairing Vietnamese dishes with Cajun-style seafood.
The full menu includes boils featuring crawfish, shrimp, snow crab, or combinations of those choices. Banh canh cua, a thick crab-and-seafood noodle soup, brings the restaurant’s two directions together in one bowl.
Opening coverage also highlighted shaking beef plates, fried rice, and drinks made with an in-house sugarcane press. The menu is being introduced gradually during the opening weeks. Check what is available before setting your heart on a particular dish, especially for a group visit.
La Fetta Delicatessen
La Fetta’s second location, at 3945 W. 83rd St. in Prairie Village, opened on October 22. Its Italian-inspired sandwiches come with music-inspired names and ciabatta-style baguettes from Kansas City’s Farm to Market Bread Co.
The Sublime layers prosciutto, hot soppressata, burrata, walnut pesto, spicy garlic aioli, sun-dried tomatoes, and arugula. The Madonna takes a different route with mozzarella, balsamic-marinated onions, walnut pesto, pepperoncini, piquillo peppers, and basil.
The restaurant offers indoor seating, a covered patio, and shelves of imported Italian groceries. Make it lunch with a little browsing afterward. Pumpkin spice tiramisu and cannoli appeared in opening coverage, although seasonal selections can change.
Tiki Taco
East Crossroads has a new stop for tacos, burritos, and bowls at 412 E. 18th St. Tiki Taco’s seventh location opened in October, adding another casual option to the neighborhood.
The locally owned brand’s menu includes proteins such as al pastor, carne asada, chicken, carnitas, shrimp and mushrooms. For something beyond your usual order, its official menu describes burritos filled with curly friesand a tempura-fried avocado taco with cabbage, Baja sauce, pico, and queso fresco.
This is an easygoing choice for an outing that needs food without much ceremony. Keep the address handy, and check location-specific hours before heading over.
Mokas Coffee & Eatery
Breakfast does not have to end when your morning gets away from you. Mokas serves it all day at its first Kansas City-area location, 11814 S. Fellows St. in Olathe, which opened on September 30.
The Morning Jam sandwich combines ham, egg, Swiss, and strawberry jam on a cinnamon-raisin bagel. Lunch choices include a chicken pesto sandwich and a Baja chicken wrap.
Indoor ordering and a drive-thru offer flexibility. The opening menu also featured a Fall Bliss latte with caramel, butter pecan, and pumpkin flavors. Ask about current seasonal drinks rather than assuming that particular latte will remain available throughout fall.
Jala Indian Cuisine
For an evening with more dining-room polish, consider Jala at 13386 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park. It soft-opened September 24 with plush booths, marble surfaces, greenery, and elaborate presentation.
Reported dishes include butter chicken, chicken tikka, lamb tikka masala, and goat biryani. A separate collection adds edible gold to selections including butter chicken, lamb chops, truffle cheese naan and rasmalai.
The gold dishes supply spectacle, but conventional menu choices are available, too. Choose according to your appetite and budget. This is Jala’s first Kansas City-area location, rather than the brand’s first restaurant overall.
Remedy Cafe & Bar
Despite its name, Remedy belongs on your daytime calendar for now. The café at 929 Walnut St., inside downtown’s 929 Residences, is set to open by September 30.
Opening coverage described Onyx Coffee, chicken salad sandwiches, hummus, pastries, jam-and-burrata toast, and rotating salads and sandwiches. The setting occupies a redeveloped 1922 building.
Alcohol service was planned for after January 1, 2027, so do not build a fall cocktail outing around it. Instead, plan for coffee, a light meal, and a downtown stop. Rotating food selections make it worth checking the day’s offerings.

PaPPo’s Pizzeria & Pub
PaPPo’s opened in August at 7070 W. 105th St. in Overland Park. Pizza choices include hot honey pepperoni, blackened shrimp, and spinach ricotta. The dining room features pop-culture artwork, and the menu also includes sandwiches and salads alongside pizza.
Its Pizzookie dessert combines a deep-dish cookie with ice cream, caramel, and chocolate. Check current hours and menus before visiting any new arrival.
