Ingredients

  • 2 pound chicken breasts
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced into 1-2 inch pieces
  • 3 cups of heavy cream
  • 4 cups of low sodium chicken broth
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons Tony’s Creole cajun seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic smashed and minced
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 pound of uncooked penne pasta
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 8 oz freshly shredded parmesan cheese

Prep time: 5-7 min | Cook time: 2.5-3 hr on high or 4-5 hr on Low

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  1. Heat olive oil over high heat and sear the chicken breasts on both sides for 1-2 minutes per side.

  1. Place the seared chicken breasts in the slow cooker along with the sausage, heavy cream, chicken broth, butter, garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon of kosher salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning.

  1. Cook on high for 2.5 hours or low for about 4 hours until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Once the chicken is cooked, please remove it from the slow cooker and set it aside to cool.
  3. Stir in 1 cup of hot water and the uncooked penne pasta into the slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for about 30 minutes or until the pasta is tender.
