Subway Is Offering Free Footlongs Through Nov. 8, but There’s a Catch

Spread the love

Subway is bringing back free Footlong sandwiches, but don’t expect to walk into your neighborhood restaurant and leave with one for free. The sandwich chain announced a buy-one-get-one-free promotion running from October 27 through November 8, 2026, giving eligible customers a second Footlong when they purchase one at participating U.S. locations.

The promotion is part of Subway’s early National Sandwich Day celebration, which also brings back two discontinued menu favorites. According to the company’s October 21 announcement, the offer is available only to Sub Club rewards members who order through the app or website, and several restrictions apply.

Buy One Footlong, Get Another Free

Subway’s latest promotion follows a straightforward buy-one-get-one-free arrangement. Customers who buy an eligible Footlong sandwich can get another Footlong of equal or lesser value at no extra cost.

The offer runs from Tuesday, October 27, to Sunday, November 8. Both existing Sub Club members and people who register during the promotional period can participate.

However, the free sandwich isn’t available as a standalone giveaway. Customers must purchase another eligible Footlong to qualify, making this a two-sandwich deal rather than a completely free meal.

The Catch: You Must Order Digitally

Sub Club Membership Is Required

The biggest restriction involves how customers place their orders. Subway says the promotion is available only to Sub Club members purchasing through the Subway app or Subway.com.

Customers who aren’t already members can join through either platform. Subway says the offer will automatically appear in eligible members’ rewards wallets in the app.

That means customers ordering directly at the restaurant counter won’t qualify through that method. The deal also isn’t available through third-party delivery platforms.

Not Every Sandwich Qualifies

Subway has specifically excluded three sandwich varieties from the promotion: Fresh Fit, 5 Meat Italian, and Big Hot Pastrami.

Customers should also remember that additional toppings cost extra, and applicable taxes still apply. The offer is limited to one use per order and cannot be combined with other promotions.

The practical takeaway is simple: check your selected restaurant, sandwich choices, and final order total before completing your purchase.

Why the Promotion Matters to Local Subway Customers

Participation Depends on the Restaurant

Subway’s announcement applies to participating restaurants across the United States, not every location. That’s an important distinction for customers who are used to ordering from a particular neighborhood Subway. Because the offer is tied to digital ordering, customers can use the app or website to check their preferred restaurant before making plans.

For people ordering two Footlong sandwiches, the promotion lets them avoid paying the regular price for the lower-priced sandwich. However, Subway hasn’t announced a nationwide dollar amount for the savings.

The final value depends on the eligible sandwiches selected and any additional charges.

Subway Is Celebrating National Sandwich Day a Week Early

October 27 Replaces November 3 for Subway’s Celebration

National Sandwich Day falls on November 3, but Subway is moving its promotional celebration to October 27 this year. The original date coincides with the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, prompting the company to give its sandwich promotion a separate moment.

Jeff Klein, Subway’s chief marketing officer, explained the decision in the company’s announcement. “We weren’t going to let National Sandwich Day become an afterthought,” Klein said, pointing to the return of a sandwich that customers and franchisees had requested.

The date change doesn’t mean customers will miss the offer on November 3. Subway confirmed that the Footlong promotion and returning menu items will still be available on the traditional National Sandwich Day.

The Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub Returns After 12 Years

A Familiar Sandwich Makes Its Comeback

Alongside the Footlong promotion, Subway is bringing back its Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub for a limited time. The sandwich last appeared on Subway menus in 2014, making its 2026 return particularly notable for customers who remember ordering it more than a decade ago.

It features rotisserie-style chicken marinated in enchilada sauce, Fritos corn chips, Baja Chipotle sauce, and Monterey Cheddar cheese. Shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and red onions complete the sandwich.

Subway’s senior vice president of culinary innovation, Chef Paul Fabre, highlighted the flavor-and-texture combination. “The enchilada sauce brings depth, the chipotle adds a little heat, and the Fritos deliver that signature crunch,” Fabre said in the company’s announcement.

The returning sandwich joins the menu October 27, although Subway hasn’t announced a specific nationwide price or confirmed how long it will remain available.

The Caramel Apple Cookie Is Returning, Too

A Fall Dessert Makes Another Appearance

Subway is also reviving its Caramel Apple Cookie, a seasonal menu item last offered in 2021. The returning cookie contains apple pieces, caramel chips, and salted caramel crunch, finished with a drizzle of caramel icing.

Like the Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub, the cookie will be available for a limited time beginning October 27.

Subway hasn’t provided a specific end date for either returning item, so customers should not assume that the sandwiches and cookies will disappear when the Footlong promotion ends November 8.

Subway’s Latest Promotion Follows a Broader Lunch Campaign

The upcoming Footlong offer follows another Subway promotion focused on Americans’ lunchtime experiences. In an October 12 announcement, the company shared findings from a commissioned survey of 1,010 U.S. adults conducted September 25-28, 2026.

The survey found that 66% of respondents at least sometimes regretted their lunch choices.

Subway used those findings to promote a separate Halloween-themed giveaway involving $15 digital gift cards. That campaign ran October 12-16 and is distinct from the upcoming Footlong offer.

Both campaigns form part of Subway’s Feed Your SUBconscious marketing platform, introduced in September and featuring actor and comedian Will Arnett.

How to Claim Your Free Subway Footlong Before November 8

Customers interested in the promotion can prepare by joining Sub Club through the Subway website or mobile app.

Starting October 27, eligible members can check their rewards wallets, choose a participating location, and order two qualifying Footlong sandwiches. The promotional offer should appear automatically in eligible members’ app wallets.

Remember that the second Footlong must cost the same as or less than the purchased sandwich, with extra toppings and taxes charged separately. The promotion ends November 8, giving customers a limited window to take advantage of the deal.

Bottom line: Subway’s free Footlong promotion can make a two-sandwich order less expensive, but customers must buy one first, join Sub Club, and order digitally at a participating restaurant.
