Trader Joe’s Is Opening 30 New Stores in 16 States: Is One Coming Near You?
If you’ve been wishing for a Trader Joe’s closer to home, you might finally be in luck. The popular grocery chain is expanding again, with 30 new stores planned across 16 states, bringing its frozen favorites, seasonal treats, and affordable grocery finds to more American neighborhoods.
The expansion stretches from California to New York, and two locations are scheduled to welcome shoppers this week.
Where Are the New Trader Joe’s Stores Opening?
According to USA TODAY, the grocery retailer has identified 30 upcoming locations across the country.
Here’s where shoppers can expect new stores:
- Arizona: Two stores in Phoenix.
- California: Anaheim Hills, Leucadia, Riverbank, and San Diego.
- Colorado: Denver.
- Florida: Orlando, Boynton Beach, and Sarasota.
- Illinois: Two stores in Chicago, plus Oswego and Joliet.
- Maryland: Baltimore.
- Massachusetts: Quincy.
- Michigan: Farmington Hills.
- Nebraska: Omaha.
- New Jersey: West Orange and Jersey City.
- New York: Syracuse and Yonkers.
- Ohio: University Heights.
- Oregon: Bend.
- Texas: Bellaire, Cedar Park, and Mansfield.
- Utah: West Jordan.
- Washington: Seattle and Spokane Valley.
California and Illinois lead the expansion with four locations each, while Florida and Texas are getting three apiece.
For residents who currently drive across town, or even farther, to visit Trader Joe’s, these openings could make grocery shopping much more convenient.
When Will the New Stores Open?
Some shoppers won’t have to wait much longer.
Trader Joe’s has confirmed that its new Anaheim Hills, California, store is scheduled to open on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
Another location in West Jordan, Utah, is scheduled to open the following day, Friday, October 23.
The remaining 28 stores are listed as coming soon, although most do not yet have confirmed opening dates.
A company spokesperson told Fox News Digital that upcoming stores are typically added to the announcement list three to six months before opening.
Some locations, including those in Bend, Oregon, Boynton Beach, Florida, and Phoenix, Arizona, are expected to open in 2027.
Why Trader Joe’s Keeps Expanding
Trader Joe’s has built a loyal following through its private-label groceries, limited-time seasonal products, and distinctive shopping experience.
The California-based retailer currently operates more than 600 stores nationwide, according to Fox News.
And the company has no plans to stop looking for new locations.
“We are actively looking at hundreds of neighborhoods across the country as we hope to open more new neighborhood stores each year,” a Trader Joe’s spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
The expansion also reflects the chain’s continued interest in both established shopping markets and communities with fewer nearby locations.

Not seeing your city on the list doesn’t necessarily mean Trader Joe’s has ruled it out.
The company continues evaluating potential locations, and it may announce more as its expansion progresses.
