Where Did Fortune Cookies Originate From
Fortune cookies, often linked with Chinese cuisine, actually have an uncertain origin.
They’re believed to have emerged in California, USA, rather than in China.
One prevailing tale suggests they were initially crafted by Japanese immigrants in California during the late 1800s or early 1900s.
These cookies gained widespread popularity in American Chinese restaurants, where they became customary as an ending treat, cracked open to reveal a tiny paper containing a message or “fortune.”
