Air Fried Italian Sausage with Peppers and Onions Recipe
Whether you call them hoagies, submarines, heroes, grinder, or spuckies, they all mean the same thing and pretty much taste the same.
This is one of the easiest air fryer recipes that my family loves.
While there are many ways to make Italian sausage hoagies, the air fryer method is perfect because the excess grease goes into the air fryer tray.
Dinner is served in less time. This classic sausage recipe is perfect for the first time using your air fryer.
Of course, that depends on what you put on them too. Especially when it’s an Air Fryer Italian Sausage with Peppers and Onions.
Yes, there are many different ways to cook Italian sausage. However, if you’re looking for an easy recipe and delicious way to enjoy sausage, peppers, and onions, air frying is the way to go!
This quick and easy dish comes together in no time, and it’s perfect for a busy weeknight dinner.
Cooking Italian sausage in the air fryer is the best way to get juicy sausages. Plus, you get a crispy skin that snaps when you bite into them.
I have a friend and his sister who absolutely hate onions and peppers. When they go to Jersey Mikes, they make sure the grill is cleaned before their sub is made.
So obviously, they wouldn’t be having an Air Fryer Italian Sausage with peppers and onions. Boring!
This Italian Sausage recipe is a great option for any meal because it’s a simple recipe.

How Do You Keep Bananas From Turning Brown in Pudding
Bananas turn brown when exposed to the air. Covering the bananas with whipped topping will keep them from turning brown.
A trick I learned a long time ago to keep bananas from turning brown in the pudding was to soak them in lemon juice before adding them to the pudding or pie.
However, I never was a big fan of the taste. After more research, I found that you can soak them in lemon-lime soda and the carbonation will keep the bananas from turning brown.
Plus, the lemon-lime soda does not change up the flavor.
Does Homemade Banana Pudding Need to be Refrigerated
The simple answer is yes. Since the banana pudding is made with milk, it is best to keep it refrigerated until you are ready to serve it.
Can I make the Southern Banana Pudding Ahead of Time
Yes, the pudding can be made ahead of time. However, don’t add the crushed Vanilla wafers or bananas to it until almost ready to serve. The vanilla wafers will get soggy.
Is Pudding Still Good After a Week
If you still have the banana pudding after a week, that’s a problem, lol. It doesn’t last for more than a day or two at the most in our house. However, I would get rid of it after 5 days.
Do You Serve Grandma’s Banana Pudding Hot or Cold
We normally serve this combination of pudding mixed with whipped cream, bananas, and ‘nilla wafers cold. Did you know that traditional southern banana pudding is served warm?
How to Make Air Fryer Italian Sausage Onion and Pepper Sandwiches
Place the uncooked sausages in a single layer in the air fryer basket and heat at 390 degrees F for 12 minutes.
Depending on the size of your air fryer, you can possibly even double the recipe.
These always taste better the next day.
I like to place parchment paper on the bottom of the basket to make clean up easier.
I use a Ninja Foodi, however, you can use any air fryer oven to make this easy meal.
Flip the raw sausages and set the cook time and cook sausage for another 10 minutes while turning the basket periodically.
The time depends on the thickness of the sausage. If your links are thick, then you will need to cook them longer.
When the internal temperature of the sausages have reached 165 degrees F with a digital meat thermometer, remove from air fryer and place onions and peppers in the basket.
Air fry on 390 degrees for about 15 minutes. You can spritz with oil if you would like.
Once those are browned, place the Italian sausage on top and air fry the Italian sausage with peppers and onions for another 5 minutes.
Remove all from the air fryer and layer on the hoagie rolls.
Top with cheese and place back in the air fryer basket on 390 for approximately 5 minutes until cheese is melted.
Remove and enjoy!
Serve with a side salad for a delicious meal.
How to store Air Fryer Sausage Recipe Leftovers
Since there are only 2 of us and I always double the recipe.
I store the leftover sausage in an airtight container or wrap in aluminum foil.
Serving Suggestions
If you prefer, you can serve the Italian sausage with peppers and onions on hot dog buns.
Variation Kind of Sausages
I use mild Italian sausage, however, you can use different kinds of sausages if you prefer.
Some other type of sausage are Hot Italian Sausage, Chicken sausage, sweet Italian sausage, and turkey sausage, which are just a few options.
Just use your favorite sausage and you won’t be disappointed.
Do not use pork sausage as that does not give the hoagies the same flavor.
Whole sausage links work the best for Air Fryer Italian Sausage Hoagies.
This isn’t one of our healthy recipes but it is one of favorite recipes for a main dish.
An easy dinner with simple ingredients. This recipe gets a five star rating from my family.
