Krispy Kreme’s Halloween Doughnuts Star Looney Tunes Characters This Year

Spread the love

Halloween at Krispy Kreme just got a little more looney.

The doughnut chain has teamed up with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products for a new Halloween collection featuring some of Looney Tunes’ most recognizable faces. Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Tweety, Sylvester and Taz have all landed in the doughnut case, complete with Halloween costumes and flavors designed for spooky season.

Krispy Kreme officially announced the collaboration on October 5, and the limited-time Looney Tunes Halloween Collection arrived at participating U.S. shops on Tuesday, October 6. It marks the first time the company has created a doughnut collection inspired by the classic animated characters.

This isn’t simply a familiar box with cartoon artwork slapped on top. Each of the four specialty doughnuts gets its own combination of filling, icing, toppings, and character decoration.

Bugs Bunny Is Going Full Vampire

Bugs Bunny may usually be associated with carrots, but his Krispy Kreme Halloween appearance goes in a much different direction.

The Bugs Bunny Doughnut starts with an unglazed shell filled with chocolate dulce Kreme. The outside is dipped in red dulce icing, then finished with chocolate drizzle and tiny bat sprinkles.

The finishing touch is what really gives it the Halloween treatment: a Bugs Bunny Vampire sugar piece.

It is one of two filled doughnuts in the collection and also one of the most heavily decorated. With red icing, chocolate, and bat sprinkles, Krispy Kreme clearly leaned into the vampire theme rather than simply adding Bugs Bunny’s face to an existing menu item.

For longtime Looney Tunes fans, seeing Bugs dressed for Halloween is also part of the appeal. The animated character first appeared decades before many of today’s Krispy Kreme customers were born, yet he remains one of Warner Bros.’ most recognizable creations.

Tweety and Sylvester Share One Doughnut

Krispy Kreme did not separate one of animation’s most famous rivalries.

Tweety and Sylvester appear together on the Tweety and Sylvester Doughnut, which starts with Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed doughnut.

It is dipped in candy corn-flavored icing and topped with confetti sprinkles. A Tweety and Sylvester Pumpkin sugar piece completes the design.

Candy corn is one of those flavors that tends to divide a Halloween crowd, which could make this one especially interesting for customers deciding which doughnut to grab first. Krispy Kreme didn’t just use candy corn colors here. The company specifically describes the icing as candy corn flavored.

The doughnut also stands apart from the two filled options because the Original Glazed base remains at the center of the recipe.

And putting Tweety and Sylvester together feels especially fitting. Their constant cat-and-bird chase has been a familiar part of Looney Tunes entertainment for generations, so giving the pair a shared Halloween design keeps that relationship intact.

Taz Gets the Mummy Treatment

If cookies and chocolate are more your speed, Taz may be the character to look for.

The Taz Doughnut is an unglazed shell filled with OREO Cookies & Kreme. It is dipped in chocolate icing and OREO cookie pieces, then finished with a green icing drizzle.

A Taz Mummy sugar piece sits on top.

The result is easily one of the busiest combinations in the new collection. A filled center, chocolate coating, cookie pieces, contrasting drizzle, and a character topper all pack into one doughnut.

Turning Taz into a mummy also makes plenty of sense visually. The Tasmanian Devil is already known for being one of the wildest characters in the Looney Tunes lineup. Apparently, even being wrapped like a mummy is not enough to keep him out of Krispy Kreme’s Halloween box.

Lola Bunny Brings a Purple Halloween Look

Not every Halloween dessert has to be covered in orange, black, or green.

The Lola Bunny Doughnut brings purple into the collection. It starts with an Original Glazed doughnut, then gets a purple buttercream-flavored swirl, gold stars, and a Lola Bunny sugar piece.

Compared with some of the other options, Krispy Kreme’s official description of the Lola Bunny Doughnut is relatively simple. There is no filled center and no cookie coating. Instead, it focuses on the Original Glazed base, colorful buttercream-style decoration, and Lola herself.

The gold stars also help distinguish it from the darker vampire, mummy, and pumpkin designs elsewhere in the box.

Together, the four doughnuts give shoppers several different styles rather than four versions of essentially the same treat.

The Collaboration Connects Two Long-Running Brands

This Halloween partnership has a lot of history behind it.

Looney Tunes debuted as theatrical animated shorts nearly a century ago before expanding into television, movies, games, merchandise, and attractions.

Krispy Kreme has plenty of history of its own. The doughnut company traces its beginnings to 1937 and has since expanded internationally. The company says it now operates across more than 40 countries through its doughnut shops, retail partnerships and digital business.

Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme’s chief brand and product officer, said the humor and mischief associated with the Looney Tunes characters made them a natural fit for Halloween.

“Looney Tunes characters have entertained generations of fans with their fun, laughter and mischief,” Holder said in the company’s announcement, adding that the collection was created with Halloween parties, gatherings and seasonal celebrations in mind.

The collaboration also continues Krispy Kreme’s strategy of making limited-time collections visually recognizable enough to appeal beyond the flavor itself. In this case, the characters are not background decorations. They are the theme of the entire release.

You Do Not Necessarily Have to Visit a Krispy Kreme Shop

The new doughnuts are available for a limited time at participating Krispy Kreme locations across the United States.

Customers can buy them in shops or order for pickup or delivery through Krispy Kreme’s website and app.

Another option is for shoppers who don’t live close to a Krispy Kreme store. The company says some doughnuts from the collection will also be delivered fresh in six-packs to select retail locations.

Availability can vary, so Krispy Kreme recommends using its store and grocery locator to check nearby locations rather than assuming every supermarket carrying Krispy Kreme products will have the Halloween collection.

The company has not announced a nationwide price for the collection in its official release, so check prices at individual locations or through the Krispy Kreme ordering system.

It Is a Limited-Time Halloween Release

The most important detail for Looney Tunes fans is that this is not a permanent addition to Krispy Kreme’s menu.

The company describes the collection as a limited-time Halloween offering at participating shops. That means customers interested in a specific character doughnut may want to check availability locally while the promotion is active.

The box includes four doughnuts featuring five characters: Bugs Bunny as a vampire, Tweety and Sylvester with a pumpkin theme, Taz as a mummy, and Lola Bunny surrounded by purple buttercream and gold stars.

It is nostalgic, unmistakably Halloween-themed, and designed to turn a box of doughnuts into something that looks party-ready before anyone even takes the first bite.

So, if you were picking only one character from the box, which Looney Tunes Halloween doughnut would earn the first spot on your plate?
