How to Make Halloween Spider Cookies
Preheat Oven
Before beginning the cookie-making process, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This will ensure that the cookies bake evenly and are cooked thoroughly.
Prepare Dough
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract. Gradually add in flour, baking soda, and salt until fully incorporated.
Scoop Dough
Using a tablespoon or small ice cream scoop, scoop out the dough onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Leave two inches of space between each cookie for even baking.
Bake Cookies
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown on top. Immediately after removing from the oven, press a peanut butter cup into the top of each cookie and allow them to cool for five minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
Decorate Cookies
When the cookies are cooled, place melted chocolate chips in a piping bag and pipe eight legs on the sides of each peanut butter cup using melted chocolate chips. Use more melted chocolate chips to attach two eyes to the top of each peanut butter cup as well. Allow the chocolate to cool and harden before serving.
Enjoy!
Once all of your decorations have hardened, enjoy your delicious spider cookies! They make great treats for Halloween parties or just as an afternoon snack with friends!
