  • The taco salad recipe has changed over the years. The original version calls for raw diced onions on top of the ground beef. However, everyone seemed to prefer the onions cooked into the meat.
  • Also, originally, it did not contain salsa. Fresh diced tomatoes are to be layered on top of the onions. My family prefers salsa to fresh diced tomatoes.
  • Swap out the Mexican cheese for regular cheddar or even feta cheese if you prefer.

Start by browning your ground beef. Add your diced onion to the ground beef while frying. Cook until done.
